Description

Pench National Park – A picturesque wildlife sanctuary straddling Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, Pench is famous for its dense teak forests, diverse wildlife, and serene landscapes. It inspired Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book and is home to Bengal tigers, leopards, wild dogs, deer, and over 300 bird species. The Pench River flowing through the park enhances its beauty, making it a perfect destination for jeep safaris, birdwatching, and nature photography.

Itinerary

Arrive at Nagpur/ Jabalpur railway station / airport, board your vehicle and get transferred to Pench National Park. Pench National Park inspired Rudyard Kipling for world famous novel – ‘the Jungle Book’; Mowgli's adventure and his battle with the furious Sher-Khan is based on this very landscape in Madhya Pradesh. Pench Tiger Reserve, is a tiger territory but it is also shelters dense population cheetal, followed by leopard, sambhar, gaur (Indian bison), chousingha, chinkara, barking deer, small Indian civet, and porcupine and migratory birds such as Malabar pied hornbill, Indian pitta and osprey .On arrival in Pench, Check into your Hotel and relax. Optional : Go for afternoon buffer zone Jungle Safari or on a bird watching tour as Pench National Park is home to over 285 resident and migratory birds and protects 4 species of the now endangered vultures. Rest of the evening is at leisure. Overnight stay at Pench.

ARRIVAL AT JABALPUR/ NAGPUR

Early morning go for Morning Jungle Safari at Pench National Park. one best wildlife series on tigers so far, 'Tiger : Spy in the Jungle' is also filmed in Pench National Park. The series was shot with the use of `trunk cams' ; the cameras held by elephants' trunks, to follow four newborn tiger cubs all the way to adulthood.In afternoon, either go for afternoon Jungle safari or enjoy adventurous activities like Nature walk, night safari, trekking, or wildlife viewing from machaan. You can capture the endangered species of vultures at SitaGhat or Raiyakassa and elusive leopards at Piyorthadi looking for food and water.Go for a village tour to experience rural lifestyle while staying among Gond families at Khamba Village and create one of its kind memories. You can also try your hands at the potter wheel making some black earthen pots at the potters colony which is well known for black pottery (potters colony in Pachdhar village is 10 km from Turia gate). Treat yourself with a gift of a souvenir made by yourself to remember your visit at Pench. Pench National Park inspired Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Book’ and is known for its diverse wildlife, including Royal Bengal Tigers, leopards, Indian bison (gaur), deer, and over 285 species of birds. It is also famous for the BBC wildlife documentary ‘Tiger: Spy in the Jungle’ filmed here.

The best time to visit is October to June. Winter months (November–February) are great for birdwatching, while March to June offers the highest chances of spotting tigers as animals gather around water sources. The park is closed during monsoon (July to mid-October).

Apart from the safari, you can: Go birdwatching (over 285 resident & migratory species) Explore local villages and experience the Gond tribal lifestyle Visit the potters’ colony in Pachdhar (try your hand at black pottery) Go on a night safari, trekking, or nature walks

Jungle safaris can be booked online through the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department’s website or at the park’s entry gates. It is recommended to book in advance as safari slots are limited. Morning and afternoon safaris are available.

By Air: The nearest airports are Nagpur (90 km) and Jabalpur (200 km). By Train: The closest railway stations are Nagpur (90 km), Seoni (30 km), and Jabalpur (200 km). By Road: Pench is well-connected to Nagpur, Jabalpur, and Raipur by road.
